“Move along, move along just to make it through”

In the last week I…

Started reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (I know, I’m behind).

Got my copy of Miyavi’s new mini-album, 7 Samurai Sessions -We’re Kavki Boiz- Jazzy/hip hop remixes of past songs, with a bonus DVD of the recording sessions.

Felt badly for a little boy at the store. One second he was sitting happily in the grocery cart, the next he made the mistake of reaching for an item and was yelled at then slapped by his mom.

Was taught the nuances of pizza making by Gamer, who recently got his first job at a pizza place.

Laughed and shook my head with Ikuni as she told me retail stories (she works in a museum gift shop).

Ikuni: Excuse me, you must be 18 or over to handle that sword.
Preteen: Hey, I’ve got more weapons in my room than is in this whole store!
Ikuni: *blink blink*

  1. Retail jobs give you stories to tell for the rest of your life. Ikuni’s a writer – she could jot the good ones down and end up with a bestselling book.I hate supermarket shopping when incompetent parents are with their kids. I always want to say something, because I’m very outspoken, but then I look at the mom, dad, or even grandma, and realize they could beat the cr*p out of me, and I restrain myself.

  2. Oh, don’t feel bad at all about the Harry Potter reading — I just finished the FIRST one and have started the second. I’ve relied solely on the movies — despite my wife’s admonition to read them first — but after seeing the most recent one I thought to myself that there might be something to them after all. I haven’t been disappointed.

  3. @ Alison – I’ll mention writing the stories to Ikuni. Hearing her tell them is a riot, too. She’s a born voice actress. 🙂 @ nova dad – Oh, good, I’m not the only one who needs to catch up. Happy reading!
