Norman, Norman, Norman

Followed a link today via Arts & Letters Daily and could hardly chew the peanut butter cookie I was eating, so stunned was I to read Norman Lebrecht’s recent column where he disses Mozart:

“Mozart is the superstore wallpaper of classical music…”
“Mozart merely filled the space between staves with chords…”
“Mozart is a menace to musical progress…”

And this from the man who edited The Book of Musical Anecdotes, which is sitting beside me as I type.

Thankfully, some of his readers ably responded.
